Henrique Ghersi Rossón

With over 30 years of investment banking and corporate finance experience, Mr. Ghersi began his banking career in 1985 at Citibank Venezuela. Mr. Ghersi joined Chemical Bank in 1991 in Caracas and then transferred to New York to work at Chemical Bank’s Privatization and Project Finance Group. In 1995, Mr. Ghersi joined UBS Warburg in New York and worked in asset securitization and then in loan syndications. Upon his return to Venezuela in 1998, Mr. Ghersi joined the Cisneros Group of Companies as VP for International Financing. Mr. Ghersi founded Venezuelan Investment Partners (VIPCapital) in 2001. Mr. Ghersi has executed over 50 transactions in Latin America in the areas including M&A, capital markets, securitizations, loan syndications, project finance and privatizations. Mr. Ghersi has a B. Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (1980) and M. Sc. degrees in Engineering and Economics (tp) from University of Santa Clara (California, USA) and UCAB respectively. He is Adjunct Professor at IESA (Venezuela) and a regular visiting professor at Universidad de los Andes (Colombia).

Rodrigo Naranjo Escovar

Mr. Naranjo joined VIPCapital in 2011 bringing 11 years of LatAm focused investment banking experience in New York with JPMorgan, ABN AMRO and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Mr. Naranjo has executed debt capital markets, syndicated loans, acquisition finance and liability management transactions for clients in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. Mr. Naranjo was a key member of the ABN AMRO group awarded the 2004 and 2006 IFR Magazine “LatAm Loan House of the Year”, and in 2007 the Euromoney “LatAm Debt House of the Year” prizes. Mr. Naranjo has led a number of structured deals awarded transaction-specific prizes by other prestigious international finance magazines. Mr. Naranjo has an MPP from Georgetown University (top 2% of his class) and a BS in Finance and Investments from Babson College (Magna Cum Laude).

Federico Carmona
External Advisor

Mr. Carmona has over 25 years of professional experience having served as director of the Consorcio Financiero Unión and Banco Metropolitano. As of today, he sits at the Board of Directors of Cerámica Carabobo, Terminales Maracaibo y H. L. Boulton. Mr. Carmona es Vicepresident of the Venezuelan-French Chamber and President of Sodexo Pass, Venezuela. Mr. Carmona graduated from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and has a Financial Law degree from the París University II, Sorbonne, Francia.

Carlos Navarro Rodríguez
Partner Vicepresident

Mr. Navarro joined VIPCapital in 2008, having previously worked in credit and risk management and then in corporate finance at two important local banks. He has extensive experience in most industry sectors as financial analyst. Mr. Navarro has a Master of Finance at IESA (where he placed 2nd in his class) and an Economics degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He is a professor of Game Theory at Universidad Monteávila and of Corporate Finance at IESA. He has a PhD in Economics and articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Juan Carlos Arvelo

Mr. Arvelo joined VIPCapital in 2008. At VIPCapital he has been involved in strategic advice, M&A transactions for corporate clients, corporate restructuring and enterprise valuation. Previously, Mr. Arvelo worked for 2 years at DITECH (Technip Venezuela) as an analyst. Mr. Arvelo has an MBA and a Master of Finance from IESA, and a B. Sc. in Engineering from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. He is a teaching assistant at IESA. Mr. Arvelo is currently studying a Master in Statistics at Universidad Simón Bolívar. Mr. Arvelo has been research assistant and TA at IESA.

Daniel Cadenas

Mr. Cadenas joined VIPCapital in 2015. Previously he served as a Financial Planning Specialist at the Banco Nacional de Crédito, conducting economic research. He has been a Research Assistant in projects funded by an important scientific development center in Venezuela. Mr. Cadenas has a degree in Economics from the Universidad Central de Venezuela (ranked 2nd amongst his graduating class, Magna Cum Laude). He also holds a degree in Chemistry from the Universidad de Los Andes and a TSU in Chemistry from the Instituto Universitario de Tecnología Región Capital. Currently, he’s pursuing a Masters in Operations Research at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Armando Romero

Mr. Romero joined VIPCapital in March 2017 as an Analyst. Mr. Romero previously worked as a researcher in IESA’s Centro Internacional de Energía y Ambiente (Energy and Environment International Center) participating in economic and political research and advisory projects for the oil and gas industry. Mr. Romero holds a BA degree in Economics from the Universidad de Carabobo (where he was 2nd in his graduating class and served as research assistant and TA).

Sandy Oliveros

Mr. Oliveros joined VIPCapital in September 2017. Previously, he worked as a Research and Strategy Analyst for emerging markets in an investment bank. Mr. Oliveros holds a BA degree in Economics from the Universidad de los Andes (where he was 2nd in his graduating class, Magna Cum Laude) and has advanced studies in financial risks from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB). Mr. Oliveros holds a Master of Finance from IESA. He is currently drafting his thesis for the Applied Economics Master’s degree from UCAB. Mr. Oliveros is a professor of econometrics at UCAB.

Samuel Mc Quhae

Mr. Mc Quhae joined VIPCapital in March 2020. Previously, he worked as an Economic Research Assistant at a consulting firm and at the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Service (SELA). Mr. Mc Quhae holds a BA degree in Economics from the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), where he placed first in his class. He was a Teaching Assistant of Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Economics at the UCAB School of Economics.
